grow up wakadoo.justkidding XD.i like samurai jack, tom and jerry, swat cats few more.but batman is the best.

both of it is great entertainment materials.but "everything in Japan is made of gold" is not true.actually everyone who watches anime now or are anime fans were once used to watch cartoons and liked it when they were kids.but after watching one or multiple animes they became addicted to anime and gave up watching cartoons or steel like cartoons.but in order to becoming anime fan japan or japanese anithing is not an issue.most of them watched anime and liked it not knowing about wat anime is or wat japan is.after watching a lot of anime they learn about japan and bcom fond of japan.anime is not children's shows.the prove is the audiences of movies which are based on anime like matrix, killbill are not kids and transformers is for everyone.other than pokemon ,digimon and other mons which are specially made for children stand alone complex, ergo proxy etc are pretty complicated for kids.

Anime is just a different style of aniemation and it often deals with things that younger kids would not understand right away. Of course there are many forms of anime made for children. The main difference is cartoons play only to children while anime plays to all audiences. This is starting to change of course with shows like south park and family guy as they appeal to an older audience 16-30ish.

In all honesty, I cannot agree with those that make a big deal about those that use cartoon when referring to anime. Anime and cartoon are interchangeable; cartoons are animation, and most animation are cartoons (Though I admit that not all of the animation are cartoons). Anime, however, is usually used to refer to Japanese cartoons; cartoons are usually used to refer to American animation. Now, no offense, but there is an incredibly big deal of difference in that sense. Though this is just my complete opinion, anime is basically the cartoons from Japan, but their animation is much more deep than any cartoon that I've seen.

Many also assume that Japanese anime are just for kids, but in the end they're rather ignorant since many fully matured people still watch Japanese anime in Japan or some other Asian countries. Their episodes also have arcs or consecutive episodes for a bigger storyline. American cartoons, however, are much more directed to America's younger audience, never really have deep episodes. and each episode usually has its own storyline if you can even call it a storyline. So, basically, the terms are interchangeable; the ideas are definitely not.
