take a screenshot of your programs (softwares etc.) if you don't want to be missing any
backup your school-notes (......if you have any........)
wallpapers! (lol)

Ya, you need to look through your programs list, write the important ones you need/want down, and forget about the others that you don't use, so all you need to do after your drive is reformatted just download and install. The only thing is that if you have some huge apps (like games, etc.) over a gb, I recommend making sure a backup is in place (burned to CD, etc.)

just dump all personal dir eg downloads my music pics vids and program files into a external hard drive

GRRRR Reformating is a BITCH! With a capital B! Fricken windows is being a pain and not letting me activate it. Just says unable to connect to actavation server, please ensure you are connected to the internet and try again. Well i'am friken posting in here so i'am damn well sure i'am connected to the internet. It won't let me install windows media player 11 without actvating. looks like i'll have to call.........
Just relized i didn't back up my playlists on itunes. So i have 775 song but no playlists. Whoopydedo. This is gonna take ages to organize again.
