Yes, lenses are expensive D:
The ones for my Sony are ridiculously expensive. I need a 55+mm lens... I think I'll look into finding a decent one that can fit an adapter for my camera. I've got my cheapy fish eye lens with adapter that works as an OK macro.. but lens quality really makes the difference, my pictures tend to turn out a little blah with it.
Some photos from my weekend trip to vegas. Unfortunately it was cloudy and overcast all weekend though >.>

@Nat : Great randoms, especially because you can tell the lighting in your photographs isn't that great, but your camera still manages to photograph well!
@Crwally : some great shots! I too have a Sony, and the lenses are absolutely ludicrous, but still not as bad as Canon. Sony is really user friendly too.
I myself am currently saving up for a Canon 5D Mark III, because I want to start making HD family films and portraits. The horrible part is as we've all mentioned, the lenses. Hopefully, as the 5D becomes more obsolete, the lenses might start to go down in price? (Sue me for being positive, lol)
All in all, if the camera lasts many years and still manages to photograph well, I don't mind paying for it. I don't spend much money on clothes or any other materialistic things (and I sure as heck don't pay for my Anime/Manga Hobby xD) So I'm more inclined to save for a good camera. Two of my friends have the Canon 7D and the Canon 5D, in addition to the Rebels which are still selling quite well. Even though it's tricky to take professional photos, my friends often tell me that there's more work to be done in editing, rather than taking snapshots.
Another friend of my husband is a professional photographer/paparazzi, and he takes photos with two cameras. One large one, and one crappy handheld powershot. He also comments that most of the work is done afterwards, in CS. However, it's a compliment to the cameras that there is now less photoshop to do, because of all of the amazing photographs that are produced by high quality cameras.
I especially love the ability to shoot HD home videos. I think it's really special, since we're looking to start a family and want to document everything well. :D

Mark II is so hardcore you won't need another lens. Especially if it's only for family pictures. If you get the kit 5D MarkII with the lens you're buying this:EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens.
Just google it and from what I hear/read it's one of the best lenses cannon ships in kit with their cameras. People stake their lives on it :D. I do mean it, no need to spend more money on it, it's a great camera as it is.
The other part of the quote is a discussion worth having, that statement can cause a full blown fist fight among professional photographers. I personally use Photoshop, there would be almost no panoramas were it not for it, but it's sometimes just too obvious how some people can consider it "cheating". I'm kind of divided on the topic, too hard to decide, all I can say that too much is never good :D.

@ame
true ljit 's post; I have used a Mark II and I have to say it's simply brilliant I used it with a kit 18-135mm Ef didn't have a chance to experiment with the lenses coz of the expenses :P
good eye for noticing the poor lighting , besides I hate to use flash unless utmost necessary.
a few more to add to the share list :

I think what they talk about is the portraits for the most part, because I'm often interested in headshots for my musician career, and I've asked many questions about the differences between celebrity headshots, and normal headshots : they've answered, photoshop. I don't think they necessarily mean that photoshop is better.
I definitely agree with you that too much is not good. Some of the landscape wallpapers I have are gorgeous, but way too much colour added in. The photo is already beautiful beforehand. Another downside is, a lot of tourist sites have photoshopped pictures, and the places in fact do not look like that. D: It's sad, because they're taking away from the actual natural beauty to attract more people, when people should be attracted in the first place.
As for the Mark II, I've also used it. I love it... I think I'm just stuck on the whole factor 'buy the new one, because it's going to be the better one'? My friends who have the Canon cameras say that the Mark II is a beautiful and solid camera. I find this whole camera thing hilarious, because it's like choosing a house, haha. I think since it's a long term investment, I'm always so conflicted!
