Ok, so they are making an Avatar the last airbender Movie.
I've just seen the trailer and in my opninion it doesn't look halfbad, and it pretty much stays true to the story right..?
Thoughts are appreciated.

Avatar is like my favorite anime of all time! I was kind of skeptical when I saw the teaser initially but this trailer looks a lot better. I'm not really a big fan of live action anime, somehow these movies always lack the sense of wonder and thrill that you get from anime. But that's just my opinion. >.>
M. Night Shyamalan hasn't really worked on such projects before and I only hope the movie can live up to my expectations.

O yeah yeah, this is "the" Avatar I have been anxious to see. Trailer seems fine. Now, the anime's story and character design are beyond excellency, and hope the movie does the same. Though, I'm sceptical about visual effects and acting. Because in particular, Sokka and Aang are really hysterical characters and actors'd better be good in the movie.
And firebending has to be original, because there're lots of fire spitting superheros and villains in Holywood blockbusters, whom I don't like. However, the firebending in Avatar is truly original, philosophical and martial arts related, and hope the movie fulfills the same.
I have high expectations for this movie, and the director Shyamalan has always been an original movie maker. But this project is his most difficult challenge now.

I've seen the teaser for the avatar the movie like half a year ago (approximation), which now kind of gives me the feeling that the movie didn't go long down the line, which is kind of really sad because I think Avatar is one of the most UNDERRATED animes in like forever. Probably it's grossly underated because the crew that made it was mostly european and they lack that easter feeling you get when watching "real" animes but they completely make it up in excelent contrasts they make between humour and seriousness of the situation making for one "glue you to your seat" anime.
I would have to disagree with you on the facts that you consider that the special effects will be crap, with today's technology good special effects is really easy to make, and I bet that the director will focus all his might on special effects considering the way movies are made lately (i.e. camerons avatar, or any other other movie for that matter) even in movies that dont' seem to be "motoshopped" (movie + photoshop) have incredible amount of after processing involved.
realistically speaking :D how many people could really make those epic scenes in romantic movies or how many of the actors really look that handsome.....
what really worries me about this movie is that the director will completely focus on loooong fights and make Aang unbelievably powerful and in full control while in anime he didn't knew what do to until he spent 5 days on an island/tortoise back being emo and gloomy. What I'm really worried about is that the movie won't reach knee high, story-vise that is, to the anime and that'll ruin even such fragile status of the anime.
well anyhow I wish them best of luck, they have mine 5$ for movie ticket
oh and a must click!:
Nah nah, that's not what I meant. I don't think the effects will be crappy, in fact ILM is the finest in the sector, and I'm already thrilled by the scenes revealed in the trailer.
Nonetheless, I am sceptical about "visual effects and acting;" this combination is important and I would be sorry to see if the director heavily leans on special effects and underestimate that gem of a story. For me, what's important about the Avatar is the story, and the portrayal of characters. I want to see Zuko's great confusion, Aang's joyfulness and Sokka's jokes about Momo and Appa :) And there's a promise: the writers Michael Dante Di Martino and Bryan Konietzko are executive producers.

Unfortunately my expectations for the film are quite low, never really been an "Anime to Live Action" fanboy since they normally fail hardcore.
Plus this way, if the film is awesome then it's awesome and if it sucks, then i'm not exactly disappointed.
But the trailer does look pretty good, plus everything is always worth a watch. So sure i'll go and see it.

ah yeah, my bad, :D I guess we where thinking the same thing from the start
I wish they put in that awesome joke from Zuko when he pwned some guys and then as he walked away turned away and whispered "~wateer triibe" and he moved his hand in the shape of the waves, I laughed my ass of on that one :D god I have to find that scene :D
oh and a must click!:
That's the problem with those live-action movies,
The characters from the anime are almost never the same as in the movie. The feelings they carry aren't realy passed on either imo.
