Exclamation Females:Dressing Inapporpritely Be judged or Not

Why is that when someone "random dude or girl" calls a female a slut or some other bashful word they get offended. I mean... why get mad if you're portraying yourself in that kind of manner, now I have never done this but I have heard many people say this. Lets just be real, it's really interesting to me when I see the response of the one who is being called that because I mean.. why wear a "going to work" aka stripper outfit and not think anyone is going to react to how you are dressing.
My opinion: No I think it's not right for people to call them those words but they could have at least have some kind of conscious about what their wearing. Or maybe i'm wrong.

What are your thoughts on this subject and please have your answers be more than one sentence.

I just have to say, it's their own choice and everyone has his own view on things.

For example, in the middle east you have woman completely covered and that is normal for them.
In Europe you have girls that wear skirts or mini skirts with a top and that is normal for them.

And even within a country people are raised differently and have other opinions about inappropiate or not.
Thats why someone might get offended since its normal for them but not for the other.

    Hmm, interesting one...
Well as a girl, I agree and disagree. Girls like to feel good about themselves, and show off their bodies- say for example if they lost a kilo or something- so they underdress a bit to advertise these things (looking for compliments- which can't be too harmful). Ok, sometimes it is over the top, like a mini skirt that is actually the equivalent of a broad belt and a low V-neck spaghetti strap top with your underwear sticking out. That is just going too far- so in reality- although it's wrong to insult them- they are asking for it. There needs to be a balance, and if you go one way where you underdress, then you are asking for everyone to chirp about you and for unwanted attention, but if you go the other way, then you're wasting away your beauty. This applies in the work field as well; you have to dress appropriately for work- simple- but sometimes it's ok to show off your legs (not your entire legs o.e) and wear a pencil skirt or whatever. Now if they aren't going to far then there's no reason to call them anything. If someone does insult them, then they are either jealous of them because they don't have the confidence to do so, or they want to get with them but will never admit it. It all depends on what you consider innapropriate.

I personally try to dress appropriately all the time, but I admit, I like to wear a mini skirt or short pants and some clothes that could be classed as 'innapropriate'- but I don't go overboard. And when I do dress like this I generally am doing it to impress someone.

My Conclusion: Some people do go overboard, and yes they are asking for what they get, however dressing to show off your body isn't a bad thing- and doesn't make you a slut. I think it kind of depends on what you consider innapropriate.

I know that if I saw someone dressed in a non-normal way (we could have a really nice chat about what's normal and what's not tho) I won't be shouting or screaming at them.

Btw, Ashanime, you sure are starting a lot of threads these days Any reason in particular?

I think that what you wear should be something that is appropriate for the context at all times, so if you're going to dress like a skank, it should be when you're going to a club or something and not just casually shopping or at work/school. Though, most people don't /enjoy/ being called a slut, but sometimes they need to be called out on their inappropriate attire. It's just a good idea to wear tasteful clothes in general, and if you're going to wear something too short or whatever, you should be prepared to be sexually harassed. That's how society is.

Everyone here has a point. I mean, there are different things u can wear in different places. And well, I'm pretty "libertine" about it, so anyone can wear what they like, apart from obvious things, like mini(really mini)skirts in classrooms should be avoided, and so on. It's a good thing that one is confident about herself and wants to show her body. As I said before there are limits. But sometimes a lot of people is just envy about it, and starts complaining.

    non-normal.
    What is non-normal.

Every person defines normal as to what they think is normal, but is that normal for others...?
    No.

So forcing your ideas of normal on someone who doesn't think that that is normal won't help.

Everyone chooses his own clothes. And if they like them, they will wear them anyway.
Just let them be who they are. Everyone has his own taste.

You can't judge a person only from how he or she is dressed.

I think you'r not a slut if you dress like... but your actions make you slut.
