Doing a statistics survey for uni and would like it if you could answer a few questions for me.

(For Anime/Manga Fans)
Q1. How long have you been into Anime?

egA. I have been into Anime for 5 years but unconsciously was a fan when I was younger by watching sailor moon and Yu-Gi-Oh. I became interested in Manga 4 years ago on a trip to Japan.


Q2. How did you get into this fandom?

egA. A friend of mine recommended Fullmetal Alchemist and Cowboy Bebop and I fell in love with the genre.


Q3.1 How do you obtain your Anime?

egA. I read alot of new Manga online to get a feel for it before going out and buying it. Same with Anime but when it's something highly recommended by a mate or looks really good in the blurb/on the back of the DVD case I'll buy it straight up.

Q3.2 Do you own any physical copies? If so how much and how much do you think you've spent?

egA. I own around 35 Manga books and around 20 Anime movies and series. I've spent around $700 over the years.


Q4.1 What are your 10 favourite Anime?

egA. My favourites are Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, Hetalia Axis Powers, D.Gray-Man, Kuroshitsuji, Kyo Kara Maoh! and Wolf's Rain (not nessissarily in that order.)

Q4.2 What 3 Anime would you remommend for first-timers and why?

egA. Cowboy Bebop - because it shows quite well the range of quirky characters and odd qualities that are unique in Animes, Naruto - the character diversity and relationships as well as the enjoyable artwork are good starters, and Death Note for, again, the characters as well as the unbelievable plot that keep you on the edge of your seat the whole show.


Q5. Do you dress a certain way or act a certain way when meeting up with others of this fandom?

egA. When meeting up for a new release or a convention I generally cosplay as a character from one of my favourites although I have a pet peeve for girls who dress as guy character (unless they're really good) and half-assed costumes.

Q6. Do you think this fnadom is more male or female orientated?

egA. I'm not sure, alot of the themes in Anime are male orientated but then again there are alot of 'pretty boys' and strong female protaginists so I could go either way.

Q4.2 What 3 Anime would you remommend for first-timers and why?
Neon genesis Evangelion: it`s just awesome and it was also the anime which got me really astonished and made me watch more and more animes
Suzumiya haruhi no yuuutsu It`s just somethine which I think every anime fan should know and it`s awesome
Death note: it can get you very exited esspecially the first few episodes.

again both, although with animes nowadays it`s slightly male orientated

Q1. How long have you been into Anime?
I got really into Anime since 2009 so about 2 years. Before that I red a manga-magazine who was monthly published with stuff like (naruto, hunterxhunter, shaman king und various others) that was like 10 years ago.

Q2. How did you get into this fandom?
Some friends of me were fans of dragon ball who was on tv here. So we started go buy the first mangas.

Q3.1 How do you obtain your Anime?
I download it from the internet.

Q3.2 Do you own any physical copies? If so how much and how much do you think you've spent?
Ehm the whole manga-magazine about 50 mangas + 20 mangas - ~350 Euro

Seitokai Yakuindomo, Kimi ni Todoke, Shinryaku! Ika Musume, Needless, Hidamari-Sketch, Lucky Star, One Piece, Fairy Tail, Mitsudomoe, Kanamemo

Q4.2 What 3 Anime would you remommend for first-timers and why?
Shinryaku! Ika Musume - Cause the anime is super funny
Kimi ni Todoke - Very good lovestory und good comedy
One Piece - A masterpiece for every action-fan, with a great story

From friends talking about it in junior high. Probably also from watching Inuyasha on adult swim.

Sometimes Amazon, sometimes the bookstore.

Not as much anime as manga, but I've probably spent at least $500.

Hetalia- because the episodes are so short that if they don't like it, it isn't a huge time investment.
Fullmetal Alchemist- just because it's awesome

Sometimes. I guess I flaunt whatever anime merchandise I might have, wear more T-shirts with anime logos on them

I don't own any copies except for 2 digital ones which I have spent about $300 on.

Skip Beat!, Hellsing, Nodame Cantabille, Code Geass, Black Lagoon, Psychic Detective Yakumo, CANAAN, Vampire Knight, Wolf's Rain and Kuragehime
Q4.2 What 3 Anime would you remommend for first-timers and why?
CANAAN: One of my favourite Animes, quite a simple plot to follow and also good quality graphics and storyline. I believe that it is also suitable for both boys and girls despite it having a lot of romance.
Code Geass: By far one of the best Animes. The drawing is very good and the action brilliant. I wouldn't say this anime is for children but it is a very good one. There is a lot of action, and politics, sci fi and even comedy and romance.
Hellsing: This is a good one for teenagers and adults if they are sceptical about Anime. Due to the action and plot, it makes it more adult and less childish like Animes such as Digimon and Pokemon which often tend to put an older audience off Anime.

Code Geass - It's just great from the beginning and has everything thats cool in an anime
Death Note - Exciting and great storyline, also doesn't have that many episodes
Naruto/Shippuden - Is a great on-going anime thats always interesting and exciting to watch, also the same with Bleach

Naruto - a good blend of humour, drama and action/adventure
Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X- very good representation of Japan's transformation era (Meiji)
Wolf's Rain- great music, captivating tragic story and ending

Evangellion- shows many sides of anime, fun serious and grows on you. YuYu hakashu, same sort of reasons. Hetalia - It's funny.
