@SOC and DG...Now that I can agree with. I have never believed in the post count thing, and I think the reputation is more important. For example, to claim characters or for joining the AA Family Tree, it should be based on the amount of rep you have and not your post count because people abuse the whole post count thing. A lot of newbies join and start posting random unrelated things to any of the topics, just to improve their count. I think they see it as a competition that they must win instead of understanding that it is more to show how much you have actually contributed towards the forum. So you're right, they are seeing it as a way to look cooler I guess like in Facebook ect. where you see people posting what food they ate ect. which is completely annoying to others because they don't care what food you ate.
But I do think it is ok if people contribute a little, even if it is one line (as long as it is related to the topic). However, if the thread asks for specific information, then they should give the information, and not post one line. It all depends on the thread, however anything worthless and unrelated shouldn't be there at all (in proper discussion- not spam threads) and users who spam in threads that shouldn't be spammed in, should get a warning a ban or whatever o.o
