I've been lurking around (visibly lol) and I come across lots of closed threads.. Alot of them seem like they can have continual discussion in them.. Is there a reason why they are all closed?
This is just my opinion, but I think if they were left open/re-opened, there would be more activity here ^^ There's tons of members, but I don't see too many in the actual forums
I would make a new thread of the same topic, but is that allowed? Will I get lectured for it xD? Tbh, that's why I've been hesitant to make same threads that already excist, but were closed lol
If it's a matter of grae digging, a site can actually benefit from it ^^ Depending on what type of topic it is ofc :)
As new members come, they will roam the sections and post in threads that interest them ^^
We normally leave threads open indefinitely, as long as contributing posts are made we ignore it when posts are separated by too much time (1 month is the limit)..
However when someone posts in a 'dead' thread and the post is far from contributing we remove this post and close the thread.
So we're already pretty lenient towards the gravedigging rule.
We also don't have a rule that forbids the recreation of a closed thread, so if you feel a certain topic deserves to be opened again you can just create a new thread yourself ;)
Thanks northernian :D
My character claims :3
"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' "

That makes alot of sense :) It's pleasing to both sides of the issue ^^ I know some who think threads with no new post after a bit should be closed and some who think it shouldn't be (new memebrs will come and post), but at times, some post are pretty much uncontributing, so that takes care of that problem ^^
