    Default You're joking right?

Have you ever seen something incredibly stupid or seen someone behave in a way that was so unbelievably inappropriate you had to ask yourself this person can't be serious right? If so share your experiences here

Over the weekend I had the DIS-pleasure of running into a few morons at my job

So first off, as I do night shifts I don't shop at the mall where my job is located very often, I come to work go home and do any shopping I need to do locally or in the city. As a result, sometimes new shops will open and I wont be aware that they're there at all. Anyway a woman come in looking for directions and this conversation took place.

Customer - Can you tell me how to get to the meteor store
Me - I'm not sure if there is one of those stores in the center
Customer - *brandishing a bag from meteor* There is one I just came from it!
Me - Sorry I don't shop here very often I didn't know there was one
Customer - Fine! I'll go back the way I came; you're no help at all!

    Me ->

I wonder did she have a sudden moment of clarity the moment she walked out the door and realize how stupid she made herself sound.

The second event wasn't so much stupid as it was unbelievably petty to the point of being stupid.
Our store like countless others that serve food and drink suffers from cheap skates who try to pull one over on us, we have good old chestnuts like - "This coffee that I bought (half an hour ago) is gone cold I want another for free", "That sandwich wasn't nice (it was so bad I had to leave one bite on the plate) I want my money back", "I'll have a pot of tea and a pot of hot water (so I can give my friend my tea bag and he/she can have free tea), or just a plain old can "I'll have a pot of hot water (so I can make my own tea/coffee and drink it at your cafe for free). You might say oh get over it it's only tea, but we're a business if we give out free stuff it cuts into our profits we get charged for the water we use and the seats taken up by freeloaders could be used to sit paying customers not to mention the sneakiness of it just pisses off most people in my line of work. Anyway we don't just out right refuse we let them have their way but on our terms if the want hot water they get hot water in a small cup!

A woman came in and tried to pull the pot of tea pot of hot water scam, I gave her a pot of tea and a cup of hot water. "That's ridiculous" she sputtered "I cant drink tea without water on the side it'll be much to strong". "I'm sorry but unfortunately it's our policy to only give out hot water in cups but if you would like I can make you a fresh pot with the tea bag left out on the side that way you can make it to your taste" I offered politely. That was like waving a red flag at a bull "This is unacceptable" she roared "I demand to see a manager". Our manager was on an hour lunch and had gone out to eat that day, his lunch was about to be ruined because of a spoiled person's temper tantrum. I explained that he was out for another 45 minute and that I could give her a customer service number to call but still she insisted I ring him and bring him back off his lunch, which I did. For fifteen minutes she waited glaring at me while I served other customers I wanted so badly to say to her "You tried to scam a free pot of tea from us and it didn't work out the way you wanted it to, get over it". Eventually she got tired of waiting and slinked off in a huff just before my manager came in with his lunch in a doggy bag, meaning she'd just interrupted his lunch break for nothing.

15 years old, up to recently convinced that Paris was in fact not the capital of France but a Country by itself that lies far away from France.

    Thanks northernian :D

I take it that Geography isn't her strongest subject?

I was left scratching my head after reading this one
    http://www.care2.com/causes/nc-ignor...e-illegal.html

Let me get this straight, it is illegal to use current data to make predictive models because they give you an answer you don't want to hear, so scientists now have to use out dated irrelevant information so they end up with the predictions you do want to hear. See this is what happens when you vote for people who like to stick their fingers in their ears and shout "Lalala I'm not listening!" I'm really shocked at this because America was and still is at the cutting edge of technology and leading the way in many scientific fields yet the rate of scientific illiteracy is rising to be one of the highest in the world next to 3rd world theocracies

Oh yes science in America is cutting edge, sadly it's political system is not. Far from it in fact.
I would point to the quote at the bottom of my signature now but lately I'm not so sure if it's even 'democracy' at work anymore. It no longer seems to me that it's just a majority of complete idiots but rather a very small, very very rich minority of idiots that is somehow pulling all the strings.
I've been trying to follow America's political antics for a bit now and it's come to the point where I'm seriously so utterly baffled by what's going on at times that I'm enrolling into an introduction to American politics course next year.. I sincerely hope that class can shed some logical light on this, else I'm despairing for America's long term future.

You hit the nail on the head there, it costs a bomb to run in an election so the only way to do it is with a party backing or to be rich, as a result rich people and corporations pour money into candidates that have policies which benefit them and their organisation. However these aren't donations they're loans and the only way to repay them is to enact the policies the donors want to see otherwise they'll stop funding you and fund your rival.

yep bribery or intimidation, there are also lobby groups that can wield enough power over the population to effectively make them vote for who they want. We had the same thing happen in Ireland with the Catholic church it did all sorts of things using the power they held over the population to control the government like block investigations into child sex abuse, prevent contraception from being legalized and blocked free healthcare because they ran the hospitals and didn't want to give up that bit of power. They also had what are now considered to be some of Ireland's literary master pieces banned. Television and free education changed that, people saw the greater freedoms boasted by secular states and began to question things and make up their own minds on what was right and wrong. Eventually the power of the church diminished dramatically.

my dad really made me laugh today. he went to see how much costs bus ticket, so he can go to germany.
and when he came home he was telling me about it and that he discussed it with a person who sells it.
    we were sitting in kitchen
and he said to me with enthusiasm "To me it doesn't matter if bus goes through Vienna or Beč. Like I care where it will go."
then i said "But dad Vienna and Beč are the same thing." and he said "really??"- with innocent face smiling a bit..
and I've noticed my bro was laughing. he probably heard him.

Lol, Nice thread! I could probably go one forever!

Ah, but something that I thought was pretty funny (and kinda awkward) was I was a t the mall last weekend looking in the Metal section of an electronics store and a guy walks up

Guy: Looking for anything in particular?
Me: (I was looking for 5FDP's American Capitalist, but had forgotten what I came in the store for) Uh, I don't really remember, not good with names
Guy: Oh what type? Hardcore, etc..?
Me: I'm fine with anything as long as it's screaming throughout the whole song, like I'm cool with screaming just not when it's non stop and I can't tell one song from another lol
Guy: I think you''l like this (hands CD)

I play the CD at the station and every song on every track is just screaming the whole entire time.

    Dude, Are you trolling? XD

    Thanks Mykka!
