Well said, Yoko! People I know used to give me a hard time about not having a Facebook account precisely because Facebook is a convenient way to stay in touch. But when people hear that I'd rather play basketball or surf than spend time on Facebook, and take a look at me (I do look like Onizuka from GTO), they realize that yeah, I have a life of my own, and it's pointless to look for me on Facebook rather than the gym.
But this gets me thinking - Maybe Facebook has made keeping in touch so convenient that ppl get lost in that, and as a direct result, completely ignore the sensibilities of online behavior. When something is very inconvenient to work with and takes too many clicks, everybody is talking about sensible ways to deal with it. But when an 'ultimate shortcut' has been discovered, sensibility gets thrown by the wayside.
