Like Gaia has with Meebo - Even though meebo discontinued itself.
It was really useful...

I think you guys had it back in 2010... Cause I ended up using it alot over the summer.

We had to delete that bar cause it was filled with bugs and caused the forum to be really unstable.
It would literally crash our forum at times causing more inconvenience than it was worth.

For now you can make do with the chatango link at the top, it also has a private chat option for people who have registered there.

Yeah, I believe the site runs smoother without the chatbox at the top of the page. My advice would be to just open another tab, so you can post and chat at the same time! ;)

The chatbox opens in another page, you can just use it on another tab. Everytime a new message pops up there, you can hear a sound. (which you can disable if you want) It is better than slowing down the forum :)

Ahh. Thanks guys. at least a little feedback on it was good. I was unaware it made the site slow (The ancient laptop was slow already) So - Now that I understand why we can't use it, I'll try and get on Chatango more often. Though, last night it was dead.

The problem is no one ever uses Chatango, I been there and there is hardly anyone active, maybe 1 or 2 people, who don't even respond. A lot of forums use shoutbox or chatbox on top of the sub forums which makes it easier to talk and people stay active and check threads. It's easier that way and can make the forum more active. Like for example Ajax Chatbox/shoutbox plugin.
