It would be really nice if there was a season 2 ^_^ It's not like season 1 had a final ending where everything was solved.
= =, well, i don't really think the 2nd season will solve anything, if RavenG is here she will give you more detail, i just heard some of them. As the first season of Haruhi Suzumiya only cover the 1st Volume of the light novel, i can only presume that the 2nd season will cover the 2nd Volume of the light novel too, but there is like 9th volume of the light novel already (if i didn't get it wrong, the 10th volume is about to came out the last time i heard about it)

From what I heard, 10th volume is still not come out yet, and the first season covered more than the 1st volume of the novel, it picked a few other chapters to be in the episodes. (and the last episode was created just for the anime, it never was in the novel)
In Broadcast Order
The 1st episode: was from 6th novel.
4,6,7,8 all from 3rd novel.
11th ep is from the 5th Novel.
12th is from the 6th novel.
2nd Season has been announced on 7th of July '07. In Japan, as a full page advertisement on a newspaper.
Promotional videos for the second season included a live action sequence inspired by the Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody chapter from the third novel which depicts Haruhi and Kyon breaking into school grounds with the footage taken from surveillance cameras.

from what iv heard it comes out in either January or July (cant remember) and its going to be an OVA
I dun think there's gunna be a season 2... normally each season is linked by a couple of days... but its been months...
