“An all-around great anime”
BLEACH
The story follows 15 year old Kurosaki Ichigo, a high school student, who gained 'death god' powers from a mysterious woman named Kuchiki Rukia, telling him that it is the only way to same his family. Instead of taking a portion of her powers, he absorbed them all, forcing him to take over her role temporarily.
I personally very much liked the somewhat stylized art style - the colors were strong and the animation was smooth and crisp, particularly in the later episodes. The fight sequences are spectacular, my favorite being that between Ichigo and Kuchiki Byakuya - definately one of the best features of the show.
The sound is overall quite good, with solid voice acting all around, but is nothing to scream and rave about.
The story is good and interesting, with a few shocking twists thrown in (I won't ruin them for those of you who haven't seen the show yet) and it moves along at quite a steady pace - excepting the filler episodes in the Arrancar arc, although these themselves are for the most part enjoyable and funny (One revolves around Hitsugaya playing a soccer game with Ichigo's sister - I just kept laughing)
The characters are one of the more developed areas of the show. There are dozens and dozens of them, yet the still manage to feel familiar. Many of the characters are funny, interesting or likeable, with great interaction between many of the characters. One of Ishida's fight scenes, for instance, takes place while he is unwillingly participating in some straight man / funny man comedy - literally hilarious moments are frequent.
All in all, an excellent anime, which I highly recommend to everyone interested in the genre.
