“Hmm...”
This is one of the few shows that I've seen so far that I really am not enjoying. I'm struggling through at episode 97 or so, so this review won't be completely fair, but I think I can make a decent summation of the show.
The story starts off as a standard one - high school girl goes off to another world and has adventures. It swiftly develops into a hunt for the Sacred Jewel shards, after it is broken and the titular half demon, Inuyasha, is released. Unfortunately, that's about as far as the story has gone, so far. That's right, the same objective announced in the beginning of the show is not complete almost 100 episodes later.
Really, that's the biggest problem I have with the series - the slow pace and lack of development in the story.
The animation is not the best, really. It's not bad, but then, it's nothing especially good, either and the action can be pretty infrequent and then quickly over.
Nothing particularly needs to be said for the sound - I don't especially like the opening or closing tracks, but I'm not really a fair judge of that (I like metal). The voice acting, on the other hand, is pretty solid.
The most redeeming feature of the show is its characters, and the interaction between the characters, which can be fun to watch, though it can get a little tedious if you're a type who likes a lot action. However, it has fewer recurring characters than I think such a long show should, though again that is a personal preference.
In all, an alright anime that I would suggest to someone who isn't looking for a particularly deep or mature show, and wants some tried and tested demonic fighting with the occasional laugh.
