Busou Renkin Review

Busou Renkin takes us on a real rollercoaster. Mutou Kazuki, the main character, undergoes changes and hardships much like any action-type anime's main character. However, he is exemplary in the way he exhibits humour, courage, and tenacity. Not many other characters have had such a clean record of holding to the truth and never giving up. This becomes especially evident the further you go into the story. Kazuki really has to put up with ALOT, and he has an incredible amount of weight laid on his shoulders in a small amount of time. You may find yourself wanting to be like the ever-cheery Kazuki.

In a way, that may be seen as boring, but the other characters make sure that doesn't happen. Kazuki is thrown into the life of battle he encounters, and is around seasoned veterans of his regiment. However, most likely due to his underdeveloped perception of such a world, he is often the one giving a bright, hopefull encouragement to his fellows. The characters around him have shady pasts, dark intentions, or misplaced alliances. Kazuki becomes the inspiration to hope for a better tomorrow.

What really pleased me is the adherance to the original storyline. Save for a few minor differences, nothing too horrible, the manga and anime align in a way that few others ever do or will.
