Darker than black Review

10 years ago a phenomenon occurred in Tokyo which destroyed most of the city and replaced the stars with fakes which vibrate when super humans use their power. This phenomenon also opened a so-called Hell’s Gate and with its appearance came the rise of super humans. These humans came to have super powers, are highly logical, do not care about morals and ethics, they can kill in cold blood because of this they are used as killing machines, but they are most set apart by their tendency to do a remuneration each time they use their powers, may it be as simple as singing to as obscene as drinking blood; these new breed of humans came to be called contactors. The most notorious of them is a contractor with the Messier code, BK-201 or the Grim Reaper. BK-201 (Hei to his team mates) is known for multiple assassinations and is hunted by the Japanese government; he enters Japan under orders from his organization, the Syndicate, and has used the pseudo name, Li Shengshun to infiltrate the country. He was sent there to do several assignments. He is accompanied by Yin, a passive medium or a doll, Mao, the cat/contractor and Huang, their middle man. As they accomplish their missions they find out who the true enemy is. In a turn of destiny, the fate of humanity and contactors rest in Hei’s hands. Who will he chose to save? His kind or the humans??

A very dark sci-fi anime with a twist at the ending the makes its name very fitting for it. You cannot understand this series if you will not watch it as a whole. Several secrets about Hei and his kind are revealed at the end part of the anime, so just sit back and celebrate in bloody gore! It is violent, with some heart wrenching scenes as you come to ask yourself: “Is Hei human or is he a contractor?” “Can they feel or not?”
Art is average, music is average, story is perfect, the pace and character build is great... it’s a good watch.
