Tengen Toppa Gurren-lagann Review

So let me get this straight. THIS is the anime everyone's talking about? THIS is the anime that has created an unruly fanbase made up mostly of furry haters and people who can't stand opinions that are different to theirs? THIS is the greatest anime of all time? I'm sorry if you hate me for saying this, but Gurren Lagann SUCKS!

What I hate about this anime is, to be frank, everything. We got a ridiculous plot involving mechs. Oh boy, another one of these. And the badguys just happen to be half human/half animal hybrids. Some of these guys turn good, however. ...Mostly the ones that have absolutely no noticeable animal features, like slanted eyes or fangs, or other uncool subtile BS. Yeah, I know what you're thinking. It doesn't seem like something worth hating the anime over, does it? But I'm not finished. This is the last thing on my mind.

What I really hate most about the anime is the fact that it tries too hard. We have so many quotes that are over-exaggerated to the max, and mech and character designs that border on STUPID. Like early on, the protagonists encounter an army of fuzzball creatures that ride a collapsible mech. Is that supposed to be funny or novel or something. Speaking of which, the token "cute" character, that little mole that follows the main character around, is more annoying than cute. And of course it turns out to be another animal person.

Later in the anime, a new evil emerges, and honestly I lost track of what the anime was about afterward, but eventually the humans and animal people had a truce and managed peace with each other, blah blah blah, stupid cliche plot, basically.

I don't get it? The anime isn't funny, it isn't creative, it isn't cool, and overall I really didn't find it enjoyable. I have nothing wrong with people who like the anime, but why is this anime so good you have to FORCE people to like it. Like if someone says they don't like it, why should they deserve hate for it? I'm sorry, but personally I didn't like the anime. Sue me, hate me, come to my house and beat me, but this is my opinion and I'm not changing it.
