Shirokuma Cafe Review

The description is a bit off. As the name implies, Shirokuma Café is a café (not a cafeteria...?) run by a polar bear. The anime focuses on the interactions between three main characters: a panda who just wants to laze about and be told he's cute, the polar bear who loves to mess with his customers with bad puns and tall tales, and a hilariously down-to-earth penguin who tries to get them to listen to his love woes.

Despite its animal cast, the anime somehow manages not to feel cutesy or childish. It's also very funny, mostly because it never quite goes in the direction you'd expect. The animals who visit Shirokuma Café are strangely integrated in human society and no one ever seems to find them out of place.

As to how the café came to be in existence, who knows? Shirokuma-kun probably makes up a new story every time he's asked : )
