Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Review

This computer animation was created based on the popular Role Playing Game Final Fantasy VII. Produced by Square Enix, a video game company which actually made the Final Fantasy Series. Directed by Tetsuya Nomura and music composed by Nobuo Uematsu, both have a lot of experience in the gaming industry.

Story
The story take place two years after the events in Final Fantasy VII. Final event of Final Fantasy VII told us that the earth was saved from a huge meteor fall which summoned by a villain named Sephiroth with the power of Jenova. However, the meteor has already done a lot of damage to the planet and destroyed Midgard City. The hero of Final Fantasy VII, Cloud Strife, now open a delivery service with his girlfriend Tifa Lockhart in a new city ,Edge, which located in the outskirt of Midgard. He now suffer a disease called geostigma. This disease has also infected the majority inhabitant of Edge City. This disease has no known cure and endangered the life of the person infected. Because of this Cloud secluded himself from all of his friends including Tifa.
In his seclusion, he was attacked by a three man group named Kadaj Gang. Its leader, Kadaj, claimed that Cloud was their brother and started attacking Cloud. In this event we can see a cool motorcycle fight scene. Later as the story goes they also claimed that the disease was created by the planet and attempt to take revenge to the planet with the power of “reunion” with their “mother”. This “mother” they spoke about was apparently the alien Jenova. The main plot consist of how Cloud and all his friends from Final Fantasy VII try to save the planet from Kadaj Gang and Sephiroth.

Personal Opinion
The story maybe confusing for people who haven’t played the game, but it’s still pretty interesting because of the animation.The animation is a great piece of art. There are a lot of fight scene which , although impossible, is cool to watch. There even a fight scene with one of the great summon creature from the game. The final battle with Sephiroth is a must watch for all Final Fantasy fans.
