Darker than black by mikaphi
“Poetic and deep yet dark”
Darker than Black is a dark anime. Amongst other things it centers on a force field which appeared ten years ago. After that the stars disappeared and humans with special abilities called contracters appeared who are kept secret from the public. These contracters are emotionless and show no remorse after they kill. Each one of them is represented by a fake star which falls when they die. The main character is a contracter known as Hei(BK201) who works for an organisation known only as the syndicate. is cover is to play a chinese tranfere student called Lee shengshun. Yin is an emotionless spirit medium on Hei's team. Her type are known as dolls. There field supervisor who communicates new orders from the syndicate is Huang who is human and seriously dislikes contracters. Mao is a contracter who is in the body of a blackcat.Misaki Kirihara is more of the cop in the series though she works for the foreign affairs department section 4. All contractors have an obeiscence which they must follow after using therir powers and when using these powers the star reprenting them vibrates
This anime is awsome being action, fantasy, espionage and sci-fi. The poetry is simply dark but honest and is beyond good providing a load to the artistic nature of the anime. The animation is spectacular although there was room for better animation and drawings. The fight scenes are great but not the best i have seen. Overall this anime is great, interesting and enjoyable although it does not have something for everyone. It requires one's interest in deeper thinking outside the limits. for those interested in humor, there is sadly very little, although not that much was required.
Compared to other writings of Tensai Okamura, it is amongst the best coming behind others like Samarai Champloo and maybe Ghost In The Shell SAC.
Compared to Black Blood Brothers, it is lacking in humor, animation and gore(violence). It does however make up for it in story, lenth and theme.
This is the deepest anime I have seen.
