12 Kingdoms Review

as the summary stated before on the download page, this anime is all about a girl named yoko who was taken into this other world where she was to become the empress of the kingdom of kei, one of the 12 kingdoms that made up this strange new land. yoko at first was hesitant to stay in this new world. after all, she was just a normal high school girl from japan and then she was suddenly told that she's to become the empress of some kingdom she's never heard of. but as time passed by, she came to accept her fate and with the help of trustworthy friends, she was able to finally claim her throne and face all adversities thrown to her. ^_^

okay, here's the review part...

the best thing about this anime is the story, for me at least. at first, i was a little bit skeptical about watching it because the theme seemed to be quite the regular theme of being sent into another world. so i thought the story was going to be predictable. but i was wrong. there were a lot of conflicts that i never thought would be brought up. and the magic i thought that would play a major role in the development of the story, actually had very little role. the story centered mostly on the characters' own strength and intellect. it shows the more human side of the characters rather than the supernatural element. that's why i thought the story was great. because it shows how the characters dealt with their prolems using their own strength and resourcefulnes rather than relying on some magical solution.

the only drawback for me is that the story seemed cut too short. the arc about yoko and her ascent to the throne was well told. as well as the story about the past of the ruler of en. but the part wherein the story of the kingdom of tai was being told, i felt it was kinda short. there was really no closure to the story.

but overall, it was a really great anime. one of the best i've watched and i highly recommend it to everyone. ^_^
