Black Cat Review

The anime focus around a cold killer of Chronos named Black Cat or labelled as Number XIII (Real name Train Heartnet) who eventually have a change of heart. We start with having Black cat showing off his killing skills with his orihalcon made gun Hades. he is highly admired by a lower rank Chronos member Creed Diskenth, who is facinated by his cold blooded and skillful killing such of an artist. We later find Black Cat receiving new missions from Chronos and crossing path the first time with a sweeper named Sven. Sven is a comedic character in this story, usually having his multipurpose suitcase as his weapon. Although sven is always broke and always hilariously tries to portray being a gentleman.

We see first off conflict of Black cat and sven concerning a girl named Eve. Sven was hired by Rinslet Walker (who then claims to be the target's sister) to retrive her "sister" Eve from the hands of her captive while Black Cat is given the mission by chronos to exterminate Eve. In between these events however we see a girl in kimono always appearing near black cat, singing in the night, revealed to be Saya, another sweeper. She explained her views of life and her reason for being a sweeper to Black cat, who eventually was touched by her views and start to change for the better. This is evidently seen in his first failed mission to exterminate Eve, letting her off with Sven.

Later events twist into the appearance of a team as strong as chronos named the Apostles of the Stars who uses supernatural powers. I would say they are as strong as the numbers of chronos. We can see Creed's obsession with Train and wanting him to join him as an allay and at the same time being the commander of the Apostles of the Stars. Betrayal is seen inside chronos and we see the cooperation of Chronos and the sweepers to save mankind.

However i am very very disappointed with the ending of this series, it was a huge let down. Way too easy ending.

Overall i would say this anime is very enjoyable with very interesting characters and plot development (besides the ending). Although pretty much i have put in alot of spoilers but there are many twist and plots not revealed such as Eve's identity and her purpose. It was pretty much unpredictable in some of the plot progression which makes it very interesting. Although graphic wise i think Jenos Harzard (number VII) would have been a more cooler looking Black Cat, he is portrayed too much of a kid. Although portraying him as liking milk and cats are perhaps correct, but his clothes are too much bad sense of fashion (i agree with sven on that). I would again stress my disappointment at the ending as the plot was developing so nicely then let into a total slump.
