I love CLAMP's work ever since i notice the manga for Card captor sakura, much to my delight that the anime was released not long after.
The story revolves around a very cute looking girl sakura who is living with her father and brother. She stumbles across an old book and releasing the seal, awakening cerberus the guardian (or symoblized as the sun in this series) and accidentally releasing all the cards within by reading the name of the first card she saw (wind). The story starts here with cerberus having sakura to collect all the cards and writting her name of them to avoid chaos and mischief by the cards. We are introduced to her cousin and best friend Tomoyo (sakura's mum is tomoyo's mum's cousin) who is obsessed with dressing sakura up in cute costumes and video taping her capturing of the cards; Sakura's first crush, a very gentle femenine looking Yukito who turns out to be Yue (i didnt see that coming); shaoran , a distant descendant of Clow Reed from Hong Kong who competes with sakura for the cards but ends up falling in love with her and finally Eriol Hiiragizawa (a very important character although i would not reveal his identity).
We can see a very nice introduction and plot development in this series, although i must say the manga is better than the anime, however we do see more cards that are not in the manga appearing in the anime but other than that it pretty much follow the plot of the manga. I would say its very worthy anime to watch although slightly lenghty and having some rather boring scenes. This series portrays the development of relationship as well within most of the main characters and their struggles to overcome obstacles and the support for each other. I would say this storyline of hunting for items and working together is later repeated by CLAMP's other story of adaptation (with the same characters and name with slight difference in appearance) Tsubasa chronicles. I personally would like card captor sakura more than tsubasa chronicles (way to sad and depressing). Card captor sakura also has a simplier story plot that is easier to understand than tsubasa chronicles which is linked to xxxholic and slight knowledge of xxxholic is needed to understand it.
Overall card captor sakura has a 9 from me, would have given it a 10 if it would have followed the manga more. Voices for the characters are suitable as well with no contradiction of characteristics. Another anime well done by CLAMP
