Dragon Ball Review

Dragonball tells the story of a young boy with a tail named Goku. Living alone in the woods, young Goku has no idea of the epic journey that begins when dragonball hunting Bulma, mistakenly runs into him one day.

For those that do not know, there are seven dragonballs, when gathered together, release the eternal dragon who grants a wish. This serves as a basic premise for this show, however, Goku confronts much danger throughout this series.

From the beginning, this series is light-hearted and fun, much like the innocent and pure young character of Goku. As the series progresses, and Goku becomes older and more experienced as a fighter, the series begins to take a turn towards more action.

The growth and diversity of characters (i.e. naive and innocent Goku compared with girl crazy Master Roshi) helps bring many fans to this series. There is a character that everyone can enjoy and relate with on some level. Also, the story, which follows the naive Goku, is easily accessible and easy to follow for all. Unlike his future series, Dragonball Z, Akira Toriyama's Dragonball follows the same-lighthearted tone as that of his earlier manga series, Dr. Slump.

Dragonball is a series that is recommended for everyone. For most, Dragonball Z serves as a series that launches a love of anime, and dragonball provides the backstory. From the search from the Dragonballs, all the way through the battle with Piccolo, Dragonball offers a little bit of everything for each viewer. There is the action, of course, along with comedy and romance to make for an enjoyable and non-stale viewing experience.
